How to Clean Your Blinds

Cleaning. No one really wants to do it, but the feeling, once it’s all done, is priceless! Most people forget about cleaning their blinds and curtains, but fear not, here are some simple tips on how to clean your blinds to get you through the spring cleaning!

  • Window Shutters and Venetian Blinds: The simplest of them all! All you need is a soft cleaning cloth, duster and a little bit of water to get you started. Angle the blades and dust around each louvre, changing the direction of the louvres and repeating. Simple! If you find that there is too much moisture, ensure that the louvres stay open to dry and wipe off any excess moisture with a dry cloth.
  • Vertical Blinds: You need soft cleaning cloths, sponges or baby wipes all colour free to ensure there is no colour transfer from the cleaning materials on the blinds. Mix a small amount of washing detergent in water and gently scrub the clot along the longest axis of the blind to get rid of any stubborn stains. Make sure you reverse the direction of the blinds and repeat on the back. To ensure all moisture is dried, angle the verticals open and leave them to dry.
  • Roller Blinds: The most common household blind, it is not recommended to take a part of the roller and throw it in the washing machine! Some people may want to, but please resist as this may damage the fabric. For a simple spot cleaning, use colour-free baby wipes to scrub any marks. Allow the roller blind to dry before opening. Should you need a thorough clean, it is recommended to give your local Blind & Curtain cleaners a call, who are experts!
  • Curtains: A very tricky item to clean, we highly recommend giving experts a call to have them eliminate any dust and stains.

If you are uneasy about cleaning your window furnishings or worried about how to clean your blinds, we highly recommend calling your local experts to assist!
